Donald Rae Mcfadden

Donald Rae McFadden, a wonderful man, loving husband, father & grandfather died peacefully in his sleep on October 24th, 2022.

Born in Santa Rosa and raised in Bodega & then Valley Ford, he graduated from Tomales High School. Don served proudly in the Army for two years.

Prior to serving, Don began dating JoAnn, his one true love. They married within one month of his return from the army and remained married for 62 years, until his passing.

They moved to Petaluma in 1966 to raise their sons and build their life together.

Don worked as a Truck Driver for three years and then worked as a carpenter at UCSF for 35 years. Not one to sit around after retirement, Don started his own carpentry business.

Don’s most favorite things in life were his love of the 49ers, camping, fishing, spending time with his grandkids, and travelling back east to visit his family. He was a longtime member of the Druids as well as the Petaluma Outdoorsmen club.

Don is survived by his wife JoAnn McFadden, sons James McFadden (Debra) of LaGrangeville NY, Ronald McFadden (Laurie) of Petaluma, CA and grandchildren Kyle, Sarah, Kelsey and Shane.

Don’s service will be held at Parent-Sorensen on December 17th, 2022 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you donate to St. Jude’s Children’s hospital.
