Donna Mae Dator

Her last wish was to be home with her family—and that is exactly what she received.

Donna Dator, a devoted grandmother, loving mother, and cherished partner, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2026, at the age of 80. She lived a full and meaningful life in her hometown of Petaluma, where her warmth and contagious smile remained with her until the very end.

Donna was born on October 9, 1945, to Geraldine and James Ielmorini. She grew up on her family’s ranch in Petaluma, a place that shaped her deep roots in the community she loved. She attended St. Vincent Elementary and High School, where she formed lifelong friendships and remained actively involved over the years, including her meaningful contributions to class reunions. Donna was also a proud member of local organizations such as the Penngrove Social Firemen and Native Sons and Daughters.

Donna dedicated much of her professional life to healthcare, working as a medical staff coordinator at Novato Community Hospital. Even beyond her primary career, she continued supporting physicians in the community through medical transcription services, reflecting her strong work ethic and commitment to helping others.

Above all, Donna’s greatest joy was her family. She was a deeply loving and supportive mother to her son, Bill, and later found immense happiness in caring for her granddaughters, Luna and Sequoia. Her son and granddaughters were the center of her world and brought her endless pride and love.

To know Donna was truly to love her. She was kind, funny, generous, and deeply loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, connection, and unwavering love.

Donna is survived by her partner of 35 years, Dennis Respini; her son, Bill (wife Sierra); and her beloved granddaughters, Luna and Sequoia.

Visitation will be on May 4, 2026, from 5:00-6:00 p.m., following rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Parent-Sorensen Mortuary and Crematory in Petaluma. Funeral Mass will be held at St. James Catholic Church on May 5, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in Donna’s memory to [charity or organization, if desired].

Celebration of life service will be held at a later date. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
