Doris Mary Gambonini

DORIS M. GAMBONINI passed away on September 6, 2014 in Petaluma. Devoted wife of the late Alvin Gambonini. Cherished mother of Robert Gambonini (Theresa) of Petaluma, Doreen Amaral (John) of Sonoma and Alvina Balistreri (John) of Petaluma. Beloved grandmother of Daniel and Michelle Gambonini; Alina and Suzanne Amaral; Marina and Vincente Balistreri. Adored sister of James Capella, Andrew Capella, and Marie DeCarli. Loving godmother of Joyce McCusker. Survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Age: 80 years. A member of: St. Vincent de Paul Church. Doris was born, reared and educated in Petaluma, and graduated from Petaluma High School. She married the love of her life, Alvin, on June 29, 1957, and together they enjoyed 48 years of marriage. She and Alvin enjoyed hosting barn dances for family and friends. In her spare time, Doris loved to garden and enjoyed her longtime connection with the Marin County Motorcycle Association and members of the Sparrow Gun Club. Doris was dedicated to her family and raising her children. She was active in 4-H as a leader and participated in their school activities. She did the same for her grandchildren and especially loved watching them show their animals at the fair. She was a wonderful woman; she will be greatly missed. Friends and family are invited to meet at the mortuary on Friday, September 12, 2014 at 9:45 am thence to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 35 Liberty St., Petaluma where at 10:30 am a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2014 from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm with a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm at the PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma.
