Dorothy Louise Bertucci - Dorothy Bertucci died peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, February 23, 2012 in her home in Petaluma at the age of 93. She is survived by her four children: John and his wife, Muriel, of Petaluma; Paul and his partner, Diane Rames, of Oakland, and his former wife, Silvia Rodriquez; Tom and his wife, Rosalie, of Seattle; and Ann and her partner, Georgette Effisimo, of Petaluma; and by three grandchildren, Sara, Oriana and Lily. Dorothy is also survived by many dear cousins, nieces and nephews.
Following Andyâ??s retirement in 1979, they enjoyed playing golf, annual gambling trips to Tahoe and numerous trips to visit relatives in Europe. Among her other passions were movies, crossword puzzles and bridge, which she continued to play with many good friends and neighbors as recently as a week before her passing.
Dorothy was a bright and beautiful person, with never an unkind word for anyone.
Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Monday, February 27, 2012 at 4:30 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 35 Liberty St., Petaluma, CA. Born at her home on Walnut Street in Petaluma in 1918, Dorothy was the daughter of Valenti C. and Ida L. Mattei and the sister of the late Fred Mattei and the late Virginia Bianchini. She was one of 12 graduates of St. Vincent de Paul High School in 1936 and later attended the University of California, Berkeley, where she earned her degree in history and library studies in 1941, going on to work at the UCLA and Cal libraries as a reference librarian. She met and married Andy Bertucci, of Modesto, California, in 1950 and Andy became a partner in her familyâ??s clothing store, Mattei Brothers.
