The world lost a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Dorothy Langley, who died peacefully on March 9, 2021. Born in Fortuna, CA in 1938, Dorothy lived to be 82, just a few days shy of her 83rd birthday. As a child, Dorothy was the apple of her father’s eye. After his passing, she was blessed with another father, Clarence Petersen, who was married to her dear mother Barbara for over 25 years. Growing up and into adulthood, she cherished the friendship of her beloved brother, Arthur, who preceded her in death.
Dorothy lived in Sonoma County for over 60 years, first in Santa Rosa then Petaluma. Her entire family lived nearby and visited her often. Dorothy gave of herself for the betterment of the world and made a true difference in the lives of her family and friends. She had an infectious smile and was the best listener, never tiring of hearing family stories. She traveled the world, taking her children and grandchildren on many adventures. She was married for over 25 years to Bruce Langley and they remained friends for her entire life.
Dorothy was the best friend to her children, Corinne Muelrath (Keith), Linda Young, Carolyn Langley (the late Rob Jones), and Pete Langley. She loved them unconditionally and they couldn’t have asked for a better mother. She is also survived by her beautiful grandchildren (Tim, Kevin, Kyle, Kelly, Lindsey, Chris, Kasie, Hanna, Claire and spouses Lainee, Pepi, Britain, Rick, Tommy, and Jared.) Her greatest treasure was being able to spend time with her grandchildren and her 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her niece Diana (Brad), nephew Karl and numerous other dear family members and friends. Dorothy will be truly missed, and she will never be forgotten.
Dorothy’s final resting place is Cypress Hill Memorial Park in Petaluma. The family will host a celebration of her life at a future date.
