Dorothy E. Soares

Passed away on September 22, 2013 in Santa Rosa at the age of 91 years. She was born April 20, 1922 to Everette and Margaret Meeks. Married to her Eternal companion the late Ernest (Ernie) Soares. Loving mother of Lee Soares of Calistoga, Kathy (Tom) Stinson of NM, Dan (Kim) Soares of WA, and Fred (Peggy) Soares of Santa Rosa. Cherished grandmother of 12 and great-grandmother of 29. Dear sister of Rose Elliott of OK, the late Ruth Adamson, and Margaret Meeks. Born, reared and educated in Petaluma she devoted her life to her family she enjoyed reading, camping, nature walks, animals, and loved the out of doors. She belonged to several garden clubs and became a master gardener. If she had any free time you could find her in her flower garden. Dorothy and Ernest together earned the honor of Gardener of the Year. She belonged to and served faithfully to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She will long be remembered for her great work ethics, her carrot cake and crocheted pot holders which she shared with all. Visitation will be held Friday, September 27, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. at PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Cypress Hill Memorial Park, 430 Magnolia Ave., Petaluma.
