Dorothy Ruth Vyenielo

Dorothy Ruth Vyenielo, age 90, of Santa Rosa passed away June 22, 2018 with her loving sister Nancy at her side.  She was born to Andrew and Ruth Johnson on November 16, 1927, and grew up on the family ranch in Penngrove along with her siblings: the late Barbara Bassett, her brother Jim Johnson and her sisters Nancy Arvold and Jennifer Thompson. She was preceded in death by her former husband and the father of her children Robert E. Vyenielo, her sister Barbara Bassett and her beloved grandson Raymond James Burnside SGT #BR3.

She is survived by her loving children; Patricia Robinson, of Cloverdale, Robert Vyenielo, of Santa Rosa, Theresa Rockas, of San Rafael, Lynnette Casey, of Santa Rosa, 19 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren and her many wonderful friends, their children and grandchildren which she adopted over the years and brought into her family.

Dorothy valued her family over all. She belived in integrity, honesty and the value of hard work.

Dorothy's passion was always to help others. She volunteered for many organizations throughout her life.  She was” Volunteer of the Year” with Sonoma County Volunteer Center twice, working as a Senior Peer Counselor for last 20 years for West County Community Services . She was a faithful volunteer until the last few months of her life.

Dorothy’s happy place was her cabin in Cazadero where she spent 30 wonderful summers making beautiful memories surrounded by the people that she loved.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday July 28, 2018, at 1:00 at St. Coleman’s Church, 5695 Cazadero Highway, Cazadero, Ca. with a reception following at Caz Sonoma Inn, 1000 Kidd Creek Road, Cazadero, Ca.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Dorothy’s name to Senior Peer Counseling, West County Community Services, 1821 4th St, Santa Rosa, Ca. 95404.
