Duane Edward Thomas

On July 4, 2026, on the birth of our nation and freedom, Duane “Skip” Thomas found freedom from Bile Duct Liver Cancer. He was 77 years old.

Skip was born and raised in San Mateo County. He attended St. Francis High School. He was a proud member of Local Union 617 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) for 42 years. Skip served as an Executive Board member for Local Union 617, providing guidance and representation for all the members of Local Union 617.

Skip met and married Michele Miskel Shirazpur in 1979. He embraced his new role of husband and stepfather to Michele’s daughter, Tina.

Skip loved everything and everybody. After Michele’s death he showered their two dogs, Scarlett and Davey with his affection. With the dogs, Skip found fellowship at the dog park with the neighbors sharing stories.

Skip discovered his love for travel. He accompanied his sister-in-law and brother-in-law on many adventures in Europe. His travel companion was the wonderful Debbie Denham.

Skip is survived by many loving nieces and nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.
