Eda Allena Maffia

June 29, 1925 – May 6, 2026

It is with sadness and love that we announce the passing of Eda Allena Maffia, who passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026, at the age of 100, surrounded by her loved ones.

Eda was born on June 29, 1925, in Ronald, Washington, to Italian immigrants Giovanni and Adelida Allena. At the age of three, she moved with her family, including her brother Pete, to a ranch in Penngrove, California. She attended local schools and later graduated from Petaluma High School. Throughout her life, she remained deeply connected to the community she loved.

After graduation, Eda met and married the love of her life, George Maffia. Together they built a life centered on family, hard work, and dedication. Along with their son, Steve, they owned and operated a dairy in Bloomfield, where they worked side by side and created a lifetime of memories.

Eda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose greatest joy was her family. She treasured time spent with her loved ones and took great pride in watching her family grow through the generations. She also rarely missed watching her beloved San Francisco Giants and San Francisco 49ers, cheering them on through countless seasons and celebrating their victories with enthusiasm.

She is survived by her son, Steve Maffia, and his wife, Jean; her grandchildren, Melissa Mangels (Nick), Andy Maffia (Erin), and Kerri Maffia; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Jack, Ryan, and Allison Mangels; Haley and Kayla Maffia; and TJ and Reagan Barrett. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, her devoted friend and caregiver, Mereane Tabilai (Annie), whose friendship brought her much joy and companionship.

Eda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Maffia; her granddaughter, Alison; and her brother, Pete Allena.

Her century-long life was marked by love, resilience, kindness, unwavering devotion to family, and a spirit of adventure. She leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories, strong values, and enduring love that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to Annie for the compassionate and devoted care she provided.

Private family services have been held.

May she rest in peace.
