Edna (Freeman) Carlsen - Edna Carlsen passed away in Petaluma on March 16, 2010. Devoted wife of the late Carl "Charlie""" Carlsen. Cherished mother of Donna Barr. Loving grandmother of Sue Barr. Dear sister of the late Charles Freeman, Ethel Blackburn, Mildred Winn and Leslie Freeman. Survived by numerous nieces and nephews. "" As per her request a private Graveside Committal was held at Cypress Hill Memorial Park, Petaluma. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tomales Regional History Center, P.O. Box 262 , Tomales, CA 94971. Edna was a member of a family of pioneers to this area. In the mid 1800's following a trip by wagon train from Iowa during the California Gold Rush, her great-grandfather, Joel Harvey, purchased several hundred acres of land 10 miles east of Tomales. Her grandparents, John and Eliza Harvey Freeman, purchased 265 acres of land on Bodega Avenue on the eastern slope of Weigand's Hill.
