Edward James Krist, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026, at the age of 91.

Born on July 27, 1934, in Pueblo, CO, Ed was the son of a coal miner, John Krist (Margaret). Ed was a talented saxophone player who performed with notable big band musicians. He served in the Naval Reserve from 1953 to 1957 and worked as a machinist and mechanic at Mare Island and then spent 30 years with IBM as a Field Engineer.

Ed also owned and worked the Krist family vineyard for many years. A dedicated community member, he coached Little League and Boys Club basketball, served as president of the Petaluma National League in the mid-1970s, and filmed Petaluma High School football games for 30 years.

In 1955, he married his high school sweetheart, Janeene Elarose Krist (Gilardi). He is survived by his children, James (Geri), Mike (Joni), and Ricky (Lori); nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Terri Lynn and wife, Janeene.

Private burial services will be held at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In appreciation for their loving care, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Petaluma, 416 Payran St. Petaluma, CA 94952.
