Edward James Krist, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026, at the age of 91.
Born on July 27, 1934, in Pueblo, CO, Ed was the son of a coal miner, John Krist (Margaret). Ed’s father died in a coal mining accident in Walsenburg, CO. Margaret and Ed headed west to Petaluma in 1948.
Ed grew up with a strong work ethic and deep appreciation for family and community. As a young man, he was an accomplished saxophone player, performing alongside some of the most notable musicians of the big band era—a passion for music that stayed with him throughout his life.
Ed proudly served in the Naval Reserve from 1953 to 1957. Following his service, he built a diverse and hardworking career, beginning as a machinist at Mare Island and later working as a diesel mechanic. He went on to spend 30 years with IBM as a respected Field Engineer, where his dedication and skill earned him the admiration of colleagues and clients alike.
