Eleanor Gonsalves passed away peacefully on June 21, 2023, due to complications from adenoid cystic carcinoma. She was preceded in death by Manuel Gonsalves, her husband of 45 years. She is the loving mother of Kevin Gonsalves of Petaluma and Suzanne Iskander and her husband, Nasif, of Albany, CA. Adored grandmother to James Iskander. She is survived by her brother Bill (Fran) Craig of Novato and her nieces and nephews.
Daughter of the late Mary Evelyn and John Craig, Ellie was born and raised in the Sunset District of San Francisco. She graduated from Lincoln High School and San Francisco State University with a degree in Education.
Ellie was a loving and supportive family member and was actively involved in the Petaluma community. She participated in the McNear, Petaluma Jr. High and Petaluma High Schools PTAs and was a proud member of Petaluma Community Guild for many years. She served on the Sonoma County Grand Jury. Ellie was a substitute teacher in Petaluma elementary schools for over 40 years. She took great joy in teaching and was passionate about helping students learn to read; she was loved and respected by students and fellow teachers alike. Ellie leaves behind a vast network of friends who will miss her dearly.
