Elizabeth Ann (neé Callan) was born into a loving family and raised in the Parkside/Lakeshore neighborhood of San Francisco.
She attended St. Stephen's Catholic School, Aptos for middle school and then went on to graduate with honors from Lowell High School in 1967.
She then earned her BA in English from SFSU, along with a lifetime teaching credential.
Elizabeth taught for nearly 20 years within the SFUSD where she always enjoyed being in the classroom and was especially proud of returning to her beloved alma mater, Lowell, to teach English Literature.
Moving from SF in the early 80's, Elizabeth resided in Petaluma for over 37 years. Throughout her life she enjoyed going on adventures with her daughter, swimming, vacationing at Lake Tahoe and playing tennis. She was the captain of the 1994 C-2 PTA ladies team, which won a county championship! She would often remember her days playing tennis as some of her best!
Elizabeth had extensive knowledge of American history and often proved this when she watched Jeopardy each evening.
Elizabeth took great pride in her Irish heritage and often spoke of her extended travels around Ireland in the early 70's.
Elizabeth was a loving single mother and is survived by her daughter, Michele Cavellini, who selflessly devoted herself to care for her mom during the last few weeks of her life. During this time Elizabeth and Michele became closer than they had ever been - the time, although short, was very special for both to share.
Elizabeth is also survived by her son-in-law, Jeff Cavellini, with whom she shared a love of sports and a faithful following of the SF Giants, 49ers and Warriors.
She is also survived by her beloved Grand-dog, Isabella. She and Izzy shared a special bond and Izzy isn't quite sure who will be spoiling her now with extra treats and an endless amount of head pats.
Preceded in death by her father, Harold Callan and mother, Viola Callan-Martin. Also by her step-father, Lee Martin.
Elizabeth is also survived by her older brothers, Terrance Callan (Gail) and Ryan; Joseph Callan (Dorothy) and nephew, Adam Callan.
