Ellis Edward Buchanan

Ellis Edward Buchanan 84, of Petaluma, CA, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 in a peaceful setting, with close family present.

Ellis was born on May 5, 1940 to Bernard and Agnes Buchanan in Oakland, CA. After Ellis graduated from Petaluma High School in 1958, he went on to honorably serve in the United States Marine Corps for the following 4 years.

After serving in the Marines, Ellis started his first job at Shamrock Materials, in Petaluma, as a truck driver, and later joined the Petaluma Fire Department, serving the community of Petaluma for over 16 years.

In 1965, Ellis and Gloria Righetti, another Petaluma resident, became married and went on to have 3 children, in addition to a daughter Gloria had from her previous marriage (Lisa, Kimberly, Bernie, and Brett).

In 2007 Ellis retired from Shamrock Materials, and spent his time around family, friends, and a growing list of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ellis was predeceased by Gloria Buchanan. He is survived by Kimberly Buchanan, Bernie Buchanan, Brett Buchanan, 11 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.

The service will be a private gathering of family and friends.
