Evalyn Barbara Brodie (nee Starkey) - Longtime Sonoma County resident E. Barbara (Starkey) Brodie died on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007 at a Rohnert Park care home. She was 90. The Brodies returned to Sonoma County in 1973, moving to the town on Sonoma. There, she was active in bridge clubs and the Sonoma Womenâ??s Golf Club. Mr. Brodie died in 1999. Soon after, Mrs. Brodie moved to Petaluma, where her two children live. Her survivors include her children, Marilyn Bartow and Gary Brodie, both of Petaluma; their spouses, Fred Bartow and Susi Brodie; her sister, Frances Schumann and sister-in-law, Blanche Starkey, both of Sebastopol; five grandchildren, Heather Visser of Cotati, Hailey Brodie of Rohnert Park and Chad Brodie of Petaluma, William Brodie of Strathmore, Tulary County and Kathleen Bartow of Petaluma; and one great-grandson, Jake Visser of Cotati. A Visitation will be held Thursday, September 26 from 11 am to 1 pm at PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY, 301 S. Main St., Sebastopol, 829-5433. A graveside service at Sebastopol Memorial Lawn will follow at 1:30 p.m. The family prefers memorial donations to Hospice Memorial, 821 Mendocino Ave., Santa Rosa 95401 or Guide Dogs for the Blind, PO Box 3950, San Rafael 94912-3950. Mrs. Brodie was born on Dec. 9, 1917 at Twin Hills Ranch in Sebastopol. Her parents were apple farmers. She was raised on the ranch and graduated from Analy High School in 1934. In 1936, she graduated from Santa Rosa Junior College and continued her studies at Armstrong College in Berkeley, from which she graduated in 1939.
