Evelyn Fassio - Evelyn Fassio passed away in Rohnert Park on May 24, 2007. Loving wife of the late Robert Badger and Alex Fassio. Devoted mother of Gloria Letinich of Petaluma, David Fassio of OR, Alan Fassio of Santa Rosa and the late Carolyn Williams and Jim Fassio. Mother-in-law of John Letinich, Gwen Fassio, Roxanna Fassio of Concord. Dear grandmother of Ken Letinich, Drew Letinich all of Petaluma, Carolyn Jensen, Jim Jensen all of Penngrove, Daniel Fassio and Natalie Fassio, Mathew Fassio and Sharon Fassio all of Concord, Tony Fassio of Santa Rosa, Ira and Jennifer Sedoo of Vallejo, and Daren Mortenson of Las Vegas. Great grandmother of nine.
Evelyn was a strong spirited, loving woman who surely will be missed by her family and all of those she befriended during her life, she remained vibrant and engaging until the end of her 95 years.
As a Sonoma County resident, she lived in Petaluma, Cloverdale, Cotati, Sebastopol, Santa Rosa and Rohnert Park. She was a treasurer for the Sebastopol Congregational Church Womenâ??s Fellowship. She was also active in the Cloverdale Senior Center and the American Assoc. of Retired People, Cloverdale Chapter. After moving back to Petaluma in her eighties, she was an active participant in the Petaluma People Services day care program.
Fishing, camping, gardening, reading and knitting were among Evelynâ??s many hobbies and interests. She also enjoyed traveling whenever she had the opportunity. Wherever she went she made friends with her kind, gently and generous nature.
As requested by Evelyn there will not be a service. Family assisted by Parent-Sorensen Mortuary and Crematory, 763-4131. Inurnment at Cypress Hill Memorial Park, Petaluma.
Evelyn was born in 1912 in a farmhouse on Peterson Lane in Sebastopol to Ida and Frank Volkerts. She was raised by her grandmother Ella Volkerts and attended Petaluma public schools. She graduated from Petaluma High School in 1930. During these years she would take the train to her grandmotherâ??s summer home in Rio Nido, until she was fourteen when she started driving the family car.
