Evelyn M. Fitzgerald

Evelyn M. Fitzgerald - Evelyn Fitzgerald, 85, died peacefully at home after a brief illness on September 10, 2008, surrounded by her family. Evelyn was born to Lars and Mary Nelson on October 3, 1922 in Cheyenne Wells, CO, and moved, as a youngster, with her family to the Danish community of Solvang, CA. They later moved to King City, CA, where she was elected Senior Class President at King City Union High School in 1940. She joined her two brothers in military service in 1943, serving in the Navy WAVES during World War II. While in the service, she met and married her husband, John Fitzgerald, in 1945. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, John Fitzgerald. She is survived by her brother, Dean Nelson of Elk Grove; sister-in-law, Sr. Janet Fitzgerald of NY; three children, Robert Fitzgerald of Santa Rosa, Karin Sanford of Pleasant Hill and John Fitzgerald of Kings Beach; five grandchildren, Harley Tierheimer of Eugene, OR, Sharon Kane of Belmont Shores, John Fitzgerald of Santa Rosa, Michael Fitzgerald of Kings Beach, and Mallory Fitzgerald of Kings Beach; and five great-grandchildren.
