Evelyn L. Silvers

EVELYN SILVERS passed away on November 8, 2015 peacefully and in her home after battling congestive heart failure for the past 5 years. Born in Petaluma, CA raised in Sebastopol, CA she returned to Petaluma with her husband to start a family. She is survived by son Jim, daughter Mary, grandchildren Vanessa, Anthony and Tahnee and two great-grandsons Ryder and Anthony. She is also survived by three nieces Jerilyn, Terilyn, Merilyn, a nephew Mark, and Anneke - a constant in our family since her teens. Evelyn has been an active member of the community for over 66 years; she sold Avon for 15 years while her kids were in school, then accepted a receptionist position at Northbay Savings & Loan, now Bank of the West, for 17 years and retired from there. She was an active member and at times served in various board roles of the Sonoma County Chapter of the American Business Women's Association for 17 years until its dissolution, and was on two occasions named Woman of the Year. On October 13, 2012 Evelyn was selected as Catholic Woman of the Year by St. James' Women's Group in Petaluma in recognition of her exemplary gifts, talents and works serving others in her family, parish, church and community. A Vigil will be held at on Friday, November 13, 2015 at 7:00 pm at the Parent-Sorensen Mortuary & Crematory, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma and Mass on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 11:00 am at St. James Catholic Church, 125 Sonoma Mountain Pkwy, Petaluma. An open-house celebration of life will be held following the Mass, 12:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. location to be confirmed.
