Florence R. "Floy" Timms

FLOY TIMMS, a longtime resident of Petaluma, passed away on Oct 12, 2014 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was 81 years old. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard W Timms, and survived by her adored sons and daughter-in-laws, Bob & Dani, Ron & Pam, and Jamie & Heidi. Grandmother of Sabrina, Julie & Kieran, Ryan & Lindsey, Kristen & Brandon, Jason & Arial, Dan, Kailey, Gavin, and Broady. Also Great-Grandmother of Sierra, Arianna, Emma, Hope, and Payton. Floy was born in Santa Cruz on Dec 7, 1932, and was named Florence Rosella Harvey. Her family moved to Ukiah when she was 7 years old and then moved to Thornton, WA, when she was 8. Her father remained on the farm until he retired. Floy married Dick in 1952 in Rosalia, WA. They lived in Spokane until Dick was discharged from the Air Force when they moved to San Francisco where they lived for 7 years, then to Petaluma in 1969. She loved being called an "artist" though rarely thought of herself as one. She worked at Merrill Lynch for 10 years then became interested in the medical field where she was an Office Manager before she retired in 1984. She was a life member of the national Association of Plastic Surgery Assistants, where she served as President in 1984 and served on the Board of Directors for 15 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Petaluma. Visitation is available Thursday, Oct 16th from 2 - 8 PM and funeral service will be held on Friday, Oct 17th at 2 PM both at Parent-Sorensen Mortuary & Crematory, 850 Keokuk St, Petaluma. Burial will be private. The family prefers memorial contributions to Alzheimer's and Breast Cancer Funds, and United Methodist Church of Petaluma, 410 D St, Petaluma.
