Frances Rebecca) Mcchesney (Susana) Bergstedt

November 20, 1928 — September 29, 2015

Frances (Susana Rebecca) McChesney Bergstedt died suddenly on September 29, 2015. She was born November 20, 1928 to Arthur Clay McChesney and Frances Caldwell McChesney in Pueblo, Colorado. First and foremost, Sue loved her family. She and her late husband, Donald Bergstedt, regularly enjoyed traveling to visit each of her five children to visit in various parts of the US. Sue was enjoying just such an adventure when she was struck with a sudden illness. Sue grew up during the depression and she and her family, including 4 brothers and 1 sister, moved many times following her father, a Baptist minister. At one time, Sue and her family lived in a box car which would allow travel from city to city, allowing her father to have church services in the boxcar. Sue graduated from Fort Collins High School. It was in Fort Collins, Colorado, where she met and in 1947 married her first husband Anthony Cardinale. They moved to Rye, New York, where together they raised their 5 children. After her husband's passing in 1978 Sue moved to California to live near her only sister, Alice Ruth Bergstedt. As fate would have it, her sister died one year later of cancer. Sue and Alice's husband, widow and widower, married one year after Alice's death combining Don and Alice's children into a large extended family. Sue attended Two Rock Presbyterian Church where she enjoyed fellowship with other believers. She loved gardening, finances, current events and the stock market. She loved her little Granddog Ginger, and could be found in her later years in her rocker with Ginger curled up in her lap. But mostly she loved her family. She was a devoted wife and mother who was adored by her children. Sue's children would tell you that their mother was very unique and special. "Our mother always put the needs and feelings of others before her own. Although she never wanted anything for herself, she was extremely generous in every way with others. We have never heard our mother raise her voice or complain. She most definitely had the patience of a saint. Our mother was an angel on Earth and for that we can say without a doubt she is now and angel in Heaven. She will be terribly missed by all that were privileged to know and love her." "Her Children Rise Up and Call Her Blessed" Proverbs 31 :28 Sue is survived by her brothers and sister-in-laws Thomas and Barbara McChesney and John and Wanda McChesney. Adored mother of, Fran (and husband John) Hebnes, Anthony (and wife Laura) Cardinale, Brooke (and husband Bill Studwell, Wendy (and husband Phil) Sebastian, Claudia (and husband Tom) Hebnes, Donna, Chris and Bob Bergstedt. Cherished grandmother of, Brittnie Hebnes, Jeremy (and wife Melodie) Hebnes, Tomanie (and husband Cannan) Allen, Tony (and wife Jamie) Sebastian, Tim (and wife Liz) Sebastian, David Sebastian and Danny (and wife Meredith) Sebastian, Steven (and wife Anne) Hebnes, Nicholas (and wife Ashleigh) Hebnes and Matthew Hebnes, Kelly and Jenna Bergstedt, Mandy and Eric Bergstedt. Loving great grandmother of, Johathan Hebnes, Sophie and Lola Allen, Brady, Mack and Zoe Sebastian, Jet and Tybo Sebastian, Theodor and Fritz Hebnes and Holton Hebnes. Many nieces and nephews as well as her little Granddog Ginger. Sue was preceded in death by her sister Alice Bergstedt and brothers Arthur and Albert McChesney.
