Frances M. Otani

August 20, 1940 — August 21, 2025

Rohnert Park, California

A woman of unwavering faith and steady strength, Frances Otani passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on August 21, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was 85 years old.

Born in Champaign, Illinois on August 20th, 1940. Fran was the beloved daughter of Frank and Faye Cacioppo. She was raised in the Catholic faith and attended Holy Cross School through the 8th grade before graduating from Champaign High School. She worked at the University of Illinois before a new chapter of life began out West.

In 1959, Fran moved to Larkspur, California, where she met her first husband, George Oliviera. They married in 1960 and together raised three children: Cindi, Anthony (Tony), and Greg. In 1985, she married Jerry Otani and was blessed to welcome another daughter, Sherri, into her heart and family. Frances and Jerry shared many joyful years together—camping with friends along the Klamath River in Oregon, exploring the southern states, and making unforgettable memories on a trip to Branson, Missouri.

Frances had a strong wit, and a faith that grounded her through every season of life. She was a member of St Joseph's parish and carried her Catholic roots from Holy Cross throughout her life. Her home was filled with warmth, kindness, and a healthy stash of sweet treats hidden away for friends who stopped by.

After working a variety of jobs, she found a second home at Exchange Bank in Sonoma County, where she worked for 24 years. Her dedication and cheerful spirit made her beloved by coworkers and customers alike; she was known for her ability to brighten anyone's day with a witty comment, kind words and a contagious smile.

Fran is survived by her four children—Cindi, Tony, Greg, and Sherri—seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, whom they lovingly called Amma. She absolutely adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and spending time with them brought immense joy to her life.

Fran was deeply loved and will be forever remembered for her unwavering faith, her devotion to family, and the simple joys she found in life. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, love, laughter, and half full drawers of hidden sweet treats.
