Frank Alexander passed away peacefully on March 17th, 2016 surrounded by immediate family. He had 66 adventurous years here on earth.
Frank was born on February 22nd, 1950 to Anne Nameika in Plainfield, New Jersey. At 10 years old, Frank and his mother moved to California on a Greyhound bus. He graduated from Sunnyvale High in 1968. He continued on to several local colleges and gathered many friends along the way. He formalized his transportation industry education at Golden Gate University. His love of the Transportation industry lead him to create his own brokerage, General Transportation Systems. He was orphaned at 25 years old when his mother, Anne, passed away. In his twenties, Frank met his future parents, George and Peggy Carroll, who would officially adopt him in 1990 at 40 years old. On a couch in Oakland, CA, Frank met his future wife and partner, Patricia Geib. They married August 22, 1987 and welcomed their daughter, Lauren, a little over a year later. They moved to Kenwood in 1988 and created a wonderful life and home here, which became a point of pride for Frank. Shortly after moving to Kenwood, Frank became a volunteer firefighter for Kenwood Fire Protection District, where he served the community until he retired in the mid 90's. Frank became Pop Pop when his granddaughter was born in 2015 and he was completely captivated by her.
Frank was old fashion in the way that he cared about everyone around him. He always had a smile on his face and would bring you to laughter with his unique humor. He loved golf, cars, fishing, horses and his Boxer dog, Buster Pawsey.
Frank is survived by his wife, Pat Alexander; his daughter and son in law, Lauren and William Darr; Granddaughter, Paxton Darr; Sisters, Jamie (Tim) Mandelke and Ann (Frank) Lordeman; and many close family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Peggy Carroll; and his sister Gina Carroll Towner.
There will be a casual Celebration of his Life on April 2 at his home in Kenwood, CA from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Please come to share your stories and memories of Frank. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Kenwood Education Foundation, Elsie Allen Ag Boosters or Kenwood Firefighters Association. Celebration of Life
