Frederick Earnestoufe Sr

January 2, 1959 — April 29, 2015

Frederick Earnest Sroufe, 56, passed away peacefully at home in Millington, TN on April 29, 2015. He was born in Pasadena, CA on January 2, 1959 and moved to Petaluma in 1969. He was a 1977 graduate of Casa Grande High School and then enlisted in the US Navy. He proudly served on many air craft carriers and was a Decorated Gulf War Veteran. He loved to travel the world while serving his country. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and while stationed at Moffett Field he was very active with the Petaluma VFW. Throughout his navy carrier and beyond, he enjoyed serving with many volunteer fire departments and taught first aid courses. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Paul Sroufe of Petaluma. Fred is survived by his mother, Dorine Sroufe, of Penngrove, CA, and his children Jeffrey Sroufe of Providence, RI. and Jason Sroufe of Rohnert Park, CA. He was also the grandfather of Kolton Sroufe (Jason). He is survived by his sisters Marilee Gatlin (Ronnie) of Petaluma, CA and Fritzi Weldon (Bill) of Lake Stevens, WA, and numerous nieces and nephews. After retirement from the USN, he settled in Millington, TN where he continued to raise his family. His job allowed him to travel the USA and in his leisure time he love to fish, ride his motorcycle and play chess. As a child he had a wonderful family friend that worked for JPL, in Pasadena during the 1960's Apollo Space Exploration. He said to his grandmother, "There really IS a man in the moon"! With his humor he touched many lives and will be forever missed. He will be buried with full military honors on August 3, 2015 at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, California.
