Fumi Tajii - Fumi (Fujimoto) Tajii, loving mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 27, 2012 at her home in Santa Rosa, with her three children at her side.
Fumi was born in Arroyo Grande, CA in 1927 to Bunzo and Hatsume Fujimoto. She was relocated to the Poston Internment Camp in Arizona during World War II. She met Gengo through her older brother, and they were married in 1951. They settled in San Jose, and then moved permanently to Santa Rosa in 1964.
Fumi spent her time helping and caring for everyone around her. The needs of others were always put before her own. She enjoyed growing vegetables and fruit, and tending to her beautiful garden. She loved cooking for her family and friends, having an entire meal ready at a momentâ??s notice. At almost every church and Japanese American community event, she could be found in the kitchen hard at work preparing something delicious.
She treasured and loved her late husband, Gengo, of 49 years. She is the mother of Phyllis Tajii (Henry Kaku) of Petaluma, Ron Tajii (Janet) of Torrance, and Donna Tajii of Sacramento, and the late Sharon Tajii and John Tajii, grandmother of Lisa and Allan Kaku, and Christopher, Kevin, and Brian Tajii, and sister of Albert Fujimoto, Toku Matsumoto, and the late Frank Fujimoto.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 1, at Enmanji Buddhist Temple in Sebastopol at 4 PM. Burial will be on Sunday, September 2, at Oak Hill Memorial Park in San Jose at 12 noon.
