Gary G. Vonraesfeld

Gary was born August 1, 1963, surprisingly died in the very early morning hours of Saturday, December 17, 2022. His actions were always those of a very kind and gentle soul. He always greeted others with a smile and acknowledged everyone by name. He was loyal and devoted to St. Vincent de Paul High School students, especially those involved in their Sport’s Programs.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Lorayne and Henry Soldati and Althea and Ernie vonRaesfeld, father, Ernie, and brother Brad vonRaesfeld.

His involvement with sports started during his high school years at St. Vincent. He then attended SRJC and graduated from Sacramento State University. During breaks in his education, he always spent time helping the athletics at SVHS. Over the last 40 years he was always proactive and supportive of the SV athletes. His skills also improved as he worked closely with Gary Galloway when he was the coach and Athletic Director.

Eventually he was named Associate Athletic Director a few years ago. He also had a sense of historical perspective at SVHS as his grandfather Henry and other family members graduated from that high school.

Gary was always ready to help anyone at any time, always with a smile. He naturally perceived when help was needed. Gary had close relationships with his entire family that extended to being a fun Uncle with his 9 nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his mother, Sandra vonRaesfeld, siblings Jeff (LeeAnne), Steve (Kathleen), Eugene, Brad’s widow Tina, Carolann Ianora and Leo.

The Celebration of Life service will be Friday, December 30,2022 at 1:00 pm at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 35 Liberty St., Petaluma.

The Gary vonRaesfeld Memorial Fund is being established. When this is finalized, information will be published in the Life Tributes section of the Press Democrat and Argus Courier.
