Gay Margaret Ghirardo Engles

It is with deep sorrow and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mom, grandma, and great grandma. Mom was born in Columbus Montana on November 4, 1934 and passed away on May 14, 2026 with her family by her side. She was proceeded in death by her mother, Gertrude Ghirardo, her father Dominic Ghirardo, 4 brothers, Barlow, Edward, Joseph and Gerald and 3 sisters, Virginia, Dona and Beverly. Gay was a very devoted mom, who raised 6 children as a single parent, a proud grandma and great grandma. She helped many families raise their children over the last 33 years as a daycare provider, which she did out of her home in Petaluma, CA. She loved every minute of it down to the weeks before her passing. Gay is survived by her sons Craig Johnson (Lori Johnson), Scott Johnson (Nancy Johnson), daughter Deana Bolton, sons Troy Bolton (Rebecca Bolton), Dale Engles (Maura Glisenti) and daughter Kari Neil (Jeff Neil). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Canaan, Alex, Sara, Derek, Lindsey, Curtis, Melanie, Jesse, Matteo, Chiara, Joe, Brandon and Riley as well as her great grandchildren, Dominic, Delainey and Kelsie.

Family and Friends are invited to attend a service for Gay at Parent Sorenson,850 Keokuk Street, Petaluma, CA 94952 on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 12:00 pm.
