George M. Gillmore - George M. Gillmore passed away February 2, 2008 at the age of 83. His granddaughter, Carrie Brandal, his sister Barbara Martin, his brother-in-law and friend, William Campbell and his mentor, Bill Abbey, greeted him in Heaven. He is already deeply missed by his wife of 60 years, Jean Gillmore, his children, Kathy & Tom Brandal, Patti & Phil Emswiler and Kevin & Margie Gillmore. Also missing their Pa are his grandchildren Kim & Erik Fowler, Cortney (Melvin Malcolm) Brandal, Dustin (Kaitlin Gorden) Emswiler, Mandee Emswiler, Drew Gillmore, Kasey Gillmore, and his great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Colby Fowler and Kameron Emswiler.
Friends are invitied to attend a Celebration of Life, February 16, 2008, 12:00 P.M. at Mister McGooâ??s, 1375 Petaluma Blvd. North, Petaluma. Memorial donations may be made to the George Gillmore Memorial Fund in care of the Petaluma Educational Foundation, 200 Douglas Street, Petaluma, CA 94952. After graduating from Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado and teaching for one year in Wells, Nevada, George moved to Petaluma in 1949 and began a 35 year teaching and coaching career. In addition to teaching Physical Education and Driversâ?? Education he was a respected varsity basketball coach for many years at Petaluma High School. George also coached youth sports including his sonâ??s Little League and CYO basketball teams and his granddaughterâ??s softball team. He made it to as many of his grandchildren and great-grandchildrenâ??s soccer, basketball, baseball and softball games as possible. George was a member of the Petaluma Golf and Country Club for many years. One of the thrills of his life was getting a hole-in-one on the 6th hole at the club.
