George Ellsworth Morton

George Ellsworth Morton - George Morton passed away in Sonoma on October 29, 2008. Former husband and dear friend of Charlotte Morton of San Rafael. Loving father of Wendy Gorham and her husband Brook of Rohnert Park and Christine Torrens and her husband Wilson of NY. Devoted grandfather of Beth, Allie, and Sarah Torrens. Dear brother of Joyce Ferrari of Milwaukie, OR. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and many dear friends. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2008 at 3:00 pm at PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma, CA. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Sutter/VNA Hospice, 1110 N. Dutton Ave., Santa Rosa, CA 95401-4606 in his memory. George was a proud member of the 1st Marine Division, serving during WWII in the South Pacific at Tulagi and Guadalcanal. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Journalism. He worked as a reporter, taxi driver, Chicago police officer, and an advertising manager in Denver. For many years, he coordinated the PAL Circus Charity Drive in many cities in the Western US.
