It is with great sadness, the family of Georgia Marino, announces her passing.
Georgia Anne (Burbank) Marino passed away peacefully at home in Fallon, California, Friday, February 10, 2023, surrounded by her family. Georgia was born in Berkeley, California, March 19, 1945 to Walt and Annie Burbank. A fourth generation member of the pioneer Burbank family, Georgia was a devoted and recognized member of the Tomales Community as well as the surrounding area.
As a child, she attended school in Tomales, graduating from Tomales High School in 1964. Georgia married her high school sweetheart, Terry Marino, and they were married for 57 years, until his death in 2021. Georgia worked alongside Terry in their cattle business as well as raising their children. She was not afraid to tackle any task, including carpentry projects like keeping the old house standing on Gericke Road.
She was a lifelong member of the Tomales Presbyterian Church, serving as a trustee, elder and deacon at different times. She was a recipient of the Tomales PTA lifetime achievement award, and served as PTA president for many years. She volunteered as well as worked at Tomales Elementary School and served on many committees for the school district over the years.
Local history was a passion for Georgia. She had extreme pride in the fact that she was a founding member of the Tomales History Center which began in a single file cabinet in a storage room at the local elementary school. The history center members worked hard to create an impressive collection of local history. Through a large grant that she helped write, and major fundraising efforts, they eventually obtained the empty auditorium from the old high school and turned it into an amazing facility to house their collection.
She returned to school after her children were grown and obtained her real estate license. She found her calling as a property manager working many years for Century 21 Bundesen. She was known for her extreme work ethic and a passion for developing lasting relationships. She loved spending time surrounded by people. Whether it was a family gathering, the Friday night card club, or giving someone a haircut, everyone was welcome around her kitchen table.
