Gerald Lloyd Magers - On March 29, 2011, Gerald Lloyd Magers passed away in Petaluma. Loving husband for 62 years to Valentina Garzoli Magers of Petaluma. Devoted father of Geraldine Magers of Santa Rosa and Lora Lee Grutkowski and her husband Gary of Sebastopol and Downieville. Dear brother of Dr. William Magers of Tempe, AZ and the late Ruth Terribilini and Max Magers. Brother-in-law of Clarence Terribilini and the late Fulvio Garzoli and Enio Garzoli, Jr. Uncle of Ed Terribilini of La Selva Beach and Dr. Casey Terribilini of Menlo Park. Friends and family are invited to the Visitation on Thursday, (today) March 31, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St. Petaluma. A private Graveside Committal will be held on Friday at Cypress Hill Memorial Park. He was born in Robinson, KS to the late Pete and Josephine Magers on January 26, 1923. The dust bowl of the 1930â??s drove the Magers family to migrate from the family farm in Kansas to Sonoma County where they settled and established the family dairy business. Gerald was graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 1941. He enlisted in the Army Air Force on October 24, 1942. He served as a tail gunner in B-26 aircraft (495th bomber squadron) flying 29 missions in the battles of Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. Gerald received the American Campaign Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Victory Medal and the Air Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters and 3 Battle Stars. He was discharged on November 20, 1945. He was a life member of the American Legion Cotati and Petaluma posts.
