Gina Lynn Hardy

d. January 24, 2022

September 1, 1974 – January 24, 2022

Gina Hardy, a native Petaluman, passed away peacefully on January 24th, 2022, at the age of 47. Gina was born on September 1st, 1974, to her parents Gerald “Jerry” Hardy Sr. and Cynthia Hardy (Nee Robinette) at Hillcrest Hospital in Petaluma, California. Gina attended grammar, middle, and high school on the West side of Petaluma. As a consummate Petaluman, she felt very connected to the West side and downtown neighborhoods. A standout athlete from a very young age, Gina played softball, basketball, and soccer. In each sport she played, her innate talent was apparent as she championed her teams to many victories. During the 80’s, she often played basketball at the Boys & Girls club on the West side of Petaluma. Even though the teams were co-ed she was the best player on her teams. Her athletic endeavors in childhood and high school resulted in several accolades and awards throughout her young life. She was a team player through and through, always reliable, dedicated, and displaying good sportsmanship. In addition to her athletic talent, Gina was very caring, loyal, and a nurturer at heart. Her loyalty to her friends and family was second to none. When Gina was your friend you knew you had a friend for life. Throughout her life Gina made close friendships with so many people and was often the life of the party. Her smile could light up a room, her laugh was contagious, and she always greeted you with a smile. Gina’s loyalty and love for her friends was widely reciprocated as she was loved and admired by so many. This admiration culminated in high school as Gina was voted Homecoming Queen of her senior class. So many people had Gina’s back just as she had theirs. Gina was preceded in death by her brother, Gerald “Jerad” Hardy Jr. and her father, Gerald “Jerry” Hardy Sr. She is survived by her mother, Cindy VonDohlen, and half-sister, Lacey VonDohlen, both of Bakersfield, California.
