Giovanni Aladino "John" Sbragia

Giovanni Aladino “John” Sbragia passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2018 from Green Acres Manor in Kenwood, California, at the age of 77. His memorial service will be held at Parent-Sorensen Mortuary & Crematory in Petaluma on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 11:00 AM, followed by a gathering at the Petaluma Sheraton.

Mr. Sbragia was born on February 13, 1941 in Lucca, Italy to Gina (Ambrogi) and Aladino Sbragia. The third of eight children, Giovanni learned to care for livestock and began working full time at age 11. In 1956, at the age of 15, along with his father and two older brothers, Giovanni boarded a ship called Independence bound for America, where they would settle in the Healdsburg area with previously established relatives.

Always focused on building a better life for his family, he devoted himself to hard work. He ran his own company, Lee’s Meat Service, for many years before starting Woodland Meats in Kentfield, California. Mr. Sbragia was an accomplished wine maker who delighted in supplying friends and family with delicious, award-winning home-crafted wine. He was drawn to the water and loved to spend time in Bodega Bay. He also had a passion for boating and joined the Healdsburg Boat Club in the early 1970s and spent many summer weekends boating with family on local lakes.

He will forever be remembered by his loving son Stephen Sbragia (Mallorca), daughter Jennifer Sbragia-Pearce (Jesse); Grandchildren Shawn Sbragia (Samantha), Aleshia Sbragia-Freyer (Jason), Huxley Pearce, Lita Pearce; Great Grandchild Charlie Sue Freyer; Brothers Giulio Sbragia (Lorraine), Roberto Sbragia, Quinto Sbragia (Bonnie); Sister Cherubina House (Ken). He will also be remembered by numerous nieces and nephews, as well as his first wife and mother of his children Oline Pinoli and second wife, Judith Torricelli-Sbragia. He was preceded in death by his siblings Gino Sbragia, Piero “Pete” Sbragia, Anna Sbragia, and beloved son Anthony “Tony” Sbragia.
