Friends and family are invited to attend the Graveside Service for Gladys on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Fresno Memorial Gardens, 175 S. Cornelia Ave., Fresno, CA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Chapel Fresno, 3425 E. Shields Ave., Fresno, CA 93726. After living most her life in Missouri she met Milton August Brehe & moved to Fresno, CA in 1940 as a young bride. Gladys was very active in the Primary Association & The Joy Group of the then Belmont Christian Church, now known as Calvary Chapel of Fresno. She helped serve many meals for her church & various organizations. She worked for 15+ years as a devoted cook for Sierra Jr. High. It was here that she mastered the art of many recipes, but the one she will be remembered for by all those who knew her well & especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her amazing Snickerdoodle cookies that never seemed to stay around too long & always found their way into the cars of those traveling back from a visit. She was also known to make amazing freshly squeezed lemonade. Her greatest joys in life were spoiling & caring for her family. She was absolutely in love with her grandchildren & their children. She was always very aware of their needs and activities no matter how far apart they were. Gladys was skilled at most everything she did, but she greatly enjoyed & excelled in cooking & baking. She was also an avid gardener & enjoyed nothing more than a perfectly kept yard & garden.
