Grace M. Tunzi

October 13, 1933 — October 1, 2024

Petaluma, California

Every family would be lucky to have an “Auntie Grace” and sadly we lost her after a lengthy illness. Born in Petaluma, the daughter of Alfred and Gladys Tunzi. She was a sister to Jim Tunzi(Joan) and the late Frieda Crandall(Wayne) and Lester Tunzi(Dee). She will also be greatly missed by numerous nieces and nephews who will always remember their dear Auntie Grace for birthday shopping trips and sitting at the famous “Table” to open their Christmas gifts.

Grace was raised on a ranch in Petaluma and knew what hard work was. After losing her father at 8, she went on to live with and care for her mother for the rest of her life. A week or so after graduating from Petaluma High School, she went to work for Lounibos and Lounibos, and while the firm had some changes in lawyers over the years she worked there for over 50 years. You might say work was her life because for many years she worked at the firm for five and a half days a week. On top of that she did bookkeeping for her mother and her brothers’ excavating business, and the annual tax returns for herself, her mother, and other family members including some friends. Grace had many dear friends, especially Elaine who she met in Junior High School. They both shared a passion for bowling (Grace bowled well into her 80s), watching the Giants and Warriors on TV, going on trips, and most importantly going out to eat. They especially enjoyed going to hundreds of “Chicken Q’s” over the years. Grace and Elaine were also deer hunters, but in both their cases, the deer usually had nothing to worry about. In Grace’s younger years, she played the saxophone with her brother, sister, and friends in the Tunzi-Zamaroni Band. They played for weddings and Grange dances throughout the county. She could also play the piano and her love for music took her to San Francisco to see many Broadway Plays. In fact, she still had a box filled with every Playbill from the shows she attended, and one might say she was someone who did not like to throw anything away. Grace also was a life-long member at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Her family would also like to thank her many caregivers over the last few years.
