REUTER, HARRIETTE BASORE - Died peacefully at home surrounded by family on December 13, 2013, ten days before her 99th birthday. A resident of Oakmont in Santa Rosa, CA since 1990, she is survived by her sister; Josephine, three children; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Harriette grew up in Berryville, Arkansas and graduated from the University of Tennessee School of Nursing in Memphis in 1935. She enlisted in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps during World War II and was stationed in the Territory of Alaska, where she met and married Captain Howard Reuter in 1943. After the war, they raised their children first in San Diego and later in Pasadena, CA. Howard died in 1997.
Family and friends are invited to meet and celebrate a Funeral Mass on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Star of the Valley Catholic Church (545 White Oak Drive, Santa Rosa [Oakmont], CA, 95409. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall. The family would welcome memorial donations to the Redwood Empire Food Bank (3990 Brickway Blvd., Santa Rosa, CA, 95403), in lieu of flowers. Private interment, Holy Cross Cemetery (5835 W. Slauson Avenue, Los Angeles, CA, 90056).
