Helen Barbieri - BARBIERI, HELEN (CAROLYN)" September 16, 1916~January 26, 2010. A native and lifelong Santa Rosa resident, Helen (Carolyn) Barbieri was born in 1916, the daughter of Pietro and Anastasia Zanelli. Helen passed away peacefully on January 26, 2010 after an extended stay in the Summerfield Health Care Center. She was preceded in death by her husband Romie, her sister Cecilia Macche, her brothers Abe and Emil Zanelli, son-in-law Norman Sikes and grandson Matthew Barbieri. She is survived by her son Romie (Gale) of San Jose, Dennis (Gail) of Clayton and daughter Rose Anne Sikes of Santa Rosa. Helen leaves behind eight grandchildren; Desta Sheridan, Gina LaBlanc, Anthony Barbieri-Low, Lisa Hobson, Paul Barbieri, Dina Miller, Timothy Sikes and Mary Helen Okajima. She was also proud to have sixteen great grandchildren. She attended Analy High School and Santa Rosa Business College before marrying Romolo Barbieri in 1938. Helen worked for many years at Rosenberg"s Department Store in Santa Rosa. She was also very active in several fraternal organizations and held offices in the Eagle"s Auxiliary and the Italian Catholic Federation. When her husband, Romie, became involved in the Young Men"s Institute, she was always busy helping behind the scenes. They made many dear friends while attending the Y.M.I. functions and annual conventions. Helen loved working in her garden, and was devoted to her family. Nothing made her happier than cooking a big family dinner for her children and grandchildren!
