Henry C. Brown entered Heaven’s gates surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, April 22, 2020.
Born in Van Dyke, MI on June 18, 1932, Henry was one of five children. After graduation from Lincoln High School in Ferndale, MI in 1950, Henry (Hank) joined the army at the age of 20 and was stationed at Two Rock Army Base in Petaluma, CA. He attended First Baptist Church, where he met his wife, Inga. They were married on June 30, 1956.
Hank was employed with the United States Post Office from 1958-1990. He was well-liked by his co-workers and maintained friendships with them.
Hank had many friends because of his likeable demeanor and inquisitive nature. He would talk with anybody and had developed the art of conversing by “asking questions”. This ability stood him in good stead, and he loved to learn about people, places and things. He was blessed to be a regular attender at Hessel Church in Sebastapol, CA, and his Scrabble group from church was a constant delight.
Hank belonged to the Danish Brotherhood in America #143, and was secretary for many years.
In more recent years, Hank and Inga enjoyed retirement by vacationing with “DayTripping”. ”Keenager” motor home trips with Hessel Church, and D.B.i.A. were also an enjoyable past-time. Hank and Inga were able to enjoy a cruise to Alaska, and experience several river cruises on the Columbia, the Mississippi and the Hudson rivers. But some of their greatest joys were trips which included spending time with their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Hank enjoyed seeing his grands and greats in his own backyard, which was his source of pride and joy.
Hank is survived by Inga, his beloved wife of 63 years; four children: Teri Merryman (Doug), Tami Guenzi (Gary), Todd Brown (Paula), and Troy Brown (Janet); 14 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren.
We will miss you Sweetie, Dad, Grampa, and Great Papa!!!
Donations can be made in Hank’s name to Hessel Church of Sebastopol, CA.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
