Henry John Houpt

February 1, 1935 — February 15, 2023

Henry passed away peacefully on February 15, 2023, surrounded by his family.  Henry was born February 1, 1935, in Mineral Ridge, Ohio to John and Kathryn Houpt (Blair).  Henry had one brother James, and a step-father, Lyle E. Blair, who preceded him in death. Irene Houpt, his wife of 65 years, passed away last year.

Henry and Irene both loved traveling.  They decided to move to Santa Maria, California in 1958 to be with Irene’s brother, Frank and his family.  That was short lived however, as Henry was relocated to Sonoma County where they made their home together of almost 53 years and raised their three daughters.  They still continued to travel but this was home.

Henry is survived by his family in California.  He has three daughters, Patricia Cozma, (Dave) and her three children, Kenny (Chrissy) , Nicolette, (Andy) and Garrett, Carla Glock ( Chester) their two sons, Budd (Nicole) their daughter Raelynn, and Travis (Carli) and their three Children, Aaron, Everett, and Bayli, Helen Buttterworth, her four children, Keith Butterworth, Tiffany Butterworth, Wyatt Mills, and Summer Mills.

Henry is also survived by his brothers son, Donald Houpt and his children and the late James Houpt Jr. and his family. Henry is survived also by several nieces and nephews, Frank Joseph Lowater (Barb), and his two children, Jenee’ Anderton (Scotty) their two children, Jude and Jamison, Joseph Paul Lowater, (Nicole) their daughter, Bella, Steven Lynn Lowater, his son Stevie Lowater, Michael Dean Lowater, his daughter, Latashia.  Henry is survived by extended family in Ohio, and Anthony Bartholomucci who resides in California, as well as, many friends.

Henry loved his grandchildren and his great grandchildren and enjoyed every minute he was able to spend with them.  In his spare time when he wasn’t trying to find something to paint, he loved to ride around on his tractor and plow up the field.  Henry also loved visiting the “Casino” he said he really enjoyed the bright lights and talking to people.  Henry and Irene both enjoyed their yearly “Pismo Thanksgiving Trip” with all the family around.  It was a family tradition we enjoyed for over 35 years.

Henry will be forever in our hearts and will never be far from our thoughts.  He was an outstanding parent, grandparent and great grandparent and loved by all who had the opportunity to meet him. We will miss you.  Thank you from the family and many friends for your heartfelt condolences.

We will be having a celebration of life to honor both Henry and Irene, at Sally Tomatoes in Rohnert Park, CA on Saturday, March 25 th , 2023 at 6:00 p.m.  Please join us in celebration of their lives together.
