IRA CHARLENE BELL of Rohnert Park passed away peacefully on March 16, 2015. Charlene was born on February 16, 1936 to Clark and Ethel Woods. Her parents, sister Coreatha and two brothers Clark and Henry Woods preceded her in death.
Charlene was born and raised in Cruger, Mississippi; she attended Mississippi Vocational College in Itta Bena which is now known as Mississippi Valley State University.
Charlene was united in holy matrimony on July 6, 1966 to Louis Bell in Chicago Illinois; to this union one child was born; Lisa Bell. A devoted mother, sister and loving aunt, Charlene was known to family and friends as kind and gentle with a big heart. She was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Charlene loved children and worked as a teacher in special education at various locations throughout Sonoma County. She also received numerous awards and certificates of achievement during the course of her 30 plus years career as a teacher.
Charlene gave her life to Christ at an early age; she was a faithful member of Faith Community Church in Rohnert Park for over 30 years where she also taught Sunday school for many years until her health failed.
Charlene leaves to cherish her memory a daughter Lisa Bell of Rohnert Park, two sisters Yvonne Johnson (Robert) of Chicago, Illinois and Shirley Coleman (Charles) of Joliet, Illinois two special friends Karen Kay and Jessie Sams both of Rohnert Park, her church family at Faith Community Church and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Friends and family are invited to attend visitation on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm at the PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma. Interment: Oakridge - Glen Oak Cemetery, Hillside, Illinois.
