Irene J. Houpt

Irene passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, July 2, 2022. Born to Joseph and Helen Lowater, Irene grew up in Warren, OH before moving with her husband, Henry, to California in 1959.

Irene was a loving matriarch who would do anything for her family. She selflessly assured that everyone was always taken care of through every step of our lives. She hosted all of the birthdays, graduations, and every celebration in between and loved every minute of being with her family, as much as we loved being with her. She loved to travel, enjoying several cruises and countless road trips across the country with Henry, their daughters, and occasionally a grandchild or two. Irene loved music, and never missed the chance to listen to her polka songs, attended many concerts, read anything she could get her hands on, and had such an admirable appreciation for life. She was our “Wonder Woman”, as she was to everyone she met. We were all so lucky to have had such a wonderful, loving model for life. She, along with her sense of humor and infectious smile, will be greatly missed.

Irene is survived by her husband, Henry, her three daughters Patricia Cozma (Dave), Carla Glock (Chester), and Helen Butterworth. In addition to her grandchildren Nicolette Roberts (Andy), Kenny Roberts (Chrissy), Garrett Gabor, Budd Glock (Nicole), Travis Glock (Carli), Keith Butterworth, Tiffany Butterworth, Wyatt Mills, and Summer Mills. Irene also had 4 great grandchildren, Aaron, Everett, Bayli, and Raelynn.

Visitation will be held at Parent-Sorensen Mortuary on Tuesday July 12 from 11am-5pm. Flowers may be sent to Parent-Sorensen Mortuary.
