Jack Alfonse Maier passed away at the age of 91, peacefully in his childhood home on February 27, 2026, surrounded by his loving family in Petaluma, California.

Jack was born in Petaluma on March 5, 1934, to John and Paula Maier. They immigrated from the Black Forest, Germany.

Jack lived his childhood years alongside his parents building their family chicken ranch.

After graduating as Senior Class President from Petaluma High School, Jack went onto UC Berkeley to study business.

Soon after completing college has fate would have it, Jack met his lovely bride to be at the Herman Sons Hall in Petaluma in 1961.

By 1970, they had two sons and one daughter, a flock of sheep, dogs, cats, vegetable and flower gardens.

After 30 years working as a Sonoma County Tax Assessor, Jack was able to retire with his lovely wife Carol.

Jack enjoyed with his wife, Carol, many adventures, especially cruises to Alaska. They were fortunate to see Germany, Italy, and many sites in America. Jack and Carol had made many close friends including the Herman Sons German Choir Group that he sang with for decades. They enjoyed many BOS trips, picnics, and social gathering with their German friends. Jack enjoyed the outdoors especially gardening, swimming, fishing and maintaining his beloved childhood farm.

Jack and Carol lovingly hosted every holiday and birthday with their children, grandchildren, and eventually great grandchildren.

Jack is survived by his lovely wife Carol, two sons, John and Bill (Cindy), and their daughter Maria. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Heather Baker (Scott), Zachary, Arianna Maier-Araiza, Jacob, Carolina and Lilliana, and great grandchildren; Beau, Holly and Victoria, and a wide circle of friends and pets that will miss him greatly.
