Jacqueline "Jacki" Mckeay

May 11, 1943 — August 10, 2018

At age 75, Jacki passed on after a month-long battle with sepsis. Jacki was born May 11, 1943 in San Francisco and lived in Redwood City until moving to Novato to live with her father, Ed Hamann and Nancy. She was a graduate of Novato High in 1961 and had taken courses at S.R.J.C. She Spent 50 years as a medical secretary, office manager and surgery scheduler. She married Martin McKeay in 1983 who had taken her to Jr. Prom and Sr. Ball in H.S After 20 years they attended the 20 year class reunion and fell IN LOVE. They were married for over 34 years and lived in Petaluma. Jacki was a member of the Eastern Star and the Masonic Commandery woman’s Social Order of the Beauceant. She was the Proud “Lady Jacki” of her husband’s position as The Most Illustrious Grand Master of the Grand Council of Masons of California. We traveled all over the state together. Jacki and Martin recently visited England, Ireland and her ancestral home of Hamburg Germany. She so enjoyed our annual 4 day wedding anniversary stay to a little cottage at Bodega Bay. She had belonged to the Petaluma Bowling League and was a fan of the S.F. Giants, Warriors and Raiders. She adored Elvis Presley with personalized plates on her car reading “LVISFAN”. This year she was awarded the “Volunteer of the year” from Hospice Thrift Store in Petaluma. Cruising was a passion including Alaska, Panama Canal, Mexico and Hawaii. For her 75th birthday we flew to Florida to see our family then a cruise to the Caribbean. We visited Martin McKeay II and wife Lisa, Trey and Max. She was so proud of Martin McKeay III (Trey) for receiving a scholarship to Florida State University (Home of the Seminoles) and Maxwell who is in the top of his class in H.S. Jacki is Survived by her loving Daughter, Sheri Canavan of Petaluma and loving son, Scott Zieler of Rohnert Park. Both have been so supportive and spent many hours transporting and giving loving attention during their mother’s battle. Thanks to Tim (T.J.) McKeay whose son is Logan McKeay. Also support from Grand Daughter, Kimberly and Husband Eric Swanson. Jacki has two Great Grand Daughters, Charlotte Swanson, 20 months and Madison Swanson, 6 months, whom she baby sat for and adored. Brother Dale Hamann and Dee Russo of Cameron Park and Sister Doris Gilmore of Rio Vista are thanked for their support. Thanks to Janet, Wanda, Rose, Phil and Nancy, Guy and Jeanie, Dave and Yuki, Randy and Angus for being there. Her deceased brother was Mark Hamann. She was the brightest light to whomever she met and was a stranger to none. Her passing will leave a huge void in the Universe. WE KNEW A ONE OF A KIND UNCONDITIONAL SPECIAL LOVE. Donations can be made to the Hospice Thrift Store in Petaluma. A Memorial Service will be held in her honor on Saturday, August 25 at 11:00 a.m. at Parent-Sorensen Mortuary and Crematory, 850 Keokuk St. in Petaluma followed by a Celebration of Jacki’s life at the Masonic Lodge in Petaluma.
