Dr. Jacqueline L. Robertson, entomologist, researcher, software developer, writer, teacher, advisor, editor, inventor and collector, died on July 21, 2014 after a short illness. Dr. Robertson received her undergraduate degree in Zoology in 1969, and her PhD in Entomology in 1973, both from the University of California Berkeley. During her undergraduate studies, she began working at the US Forest Service, Pacific Southwest Station in Berkeley, and continued on for almost 30 years. Among her many accomplishments, she was the first women researcher at the Forest Service to head a research unit. Following her retirement, she continued her scientific endeavors in multiple other roles.
Jackie was born in Petaluma, CA, the daughter of the late Col. John L. (Jack) Schwartz (USMC Ret) and Nina P. (Klemenok) Schwartz. A childhood of military relocations led to her desire to return to, and remain in, northern California. She was preceded in death by her sister, Marilyn Schwartz Larson. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn Schwartz and Michael Troiano, brother and sister-in-law Walter Schwartz and Margot Eigen, brother-in-law Raymond Larson, nephews Christopher (Angie) Larson, Benjamin (Lindsay) Larson, Greg (Jessie) Larson; Jason, Nick and Marissa Troiano, two grand-nieces, and many uncles,aunts and cousins.
