James William Carney

James William Carney - CARNEY, JAMES W." Entered into rest, November 19, 2008 in Santa Rosa, CA, at the age of 91 years. He was born August 31, 1917 on a farm in Christian County Illinois, the youngest of five children of John W. Carney and Elizabeth Sheedy Carney, all now deceased. He is survived by his wife; Grace Niedbal Carney, son; Michael, granddaughter; Kathryn, and grandson; Patrick, all of Santa Rosa, CA. He graduated from Tovey Grade School, Pawnee High School and Springfield, Illinois Business College. He was employed by Allis Chalmers Manufacturing Company, Construction Machinery Division in Springfield, retiring after thirty-six years as a plant superintendent. He then owned and operated Action Realty Office for a decade and was a director of the Springfield Board of Realtors and chairman of the Multiple Listing Service. In Springfield, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #364 since 1941 and a life member of the Elks Lodge #158 and a parishioner at Blessed Sacrament and subsequently Little Flower. In Santa Rosa, he was a member of the Cathedral of St. Eugene Parish; and a member of the Archbishop Edward J. Hanna Fourths Degree Knights of Columbus #61 and served as past Faithful Navigator and Color Corps Commander. He was a Real Estate Salesman for Oak Creek Realty and a member of the Sonoma County Multiple Listing Service for a decade. He was a member of S.I.R.S. Branch #76, YMI Council #40, the Merry-Go-Rounder"s and Jolly Dancers clubs, The Marine Memorial Club of San Francisco and the American Legion THR Post #21. He was also a member and officer of the Algonquin Golf Association. An avid golfer, he has three holes-in-one, the last being on his 87th Birthday, August 31st, 2004
