James Merle Elrod - ELROD, JAMES MERLE" Entered into rest peacefully at home in Santa Rosa, CA, with his loving family bedside, November 29, 2009. Dearly beloved and cherished forty-three year husband of Christine D. Elrod of Santa Rosa. Beloved father of Shellie (Aaron) Sexton of Sebastopol, CA, Kirk (Lisa) Elrod of Sebastopol, CA, Jennifer (Robert) Hurd of Santa Rosa, CA and Sarah (David) Lamb of Oakdale, MN. Adored grandfather of Nathan, Nick, Jon, Desiree, Tristan, Isabella and Olivia. Also survived by one brother; Gerald Elrod of San Francisco, CA, two sisters; Donna Bishop of Tucson, AZ and Shirley Buswell of Portland, OR, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A native of Denton, TX, age 72 years. Reared in Graton, CA, and having been a lifetime resident of our community, Jim is a graduate of the Analy High School Class of 1955, the Santa Rosa Junior College and Sonoma State University. He is an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Navy. Jim has been a College Career Counselor for the past twenty-nine years at the Santa Rosa Junior College and is a member and parishioner of the Hessel Union Church in Sebastopol.
