James Michael Ferina

March 20, 1957 — March 11, 2014

“Shamus”  aka Jim Bobb

On the morning of March 11, 2014, Jimmy rolled his way onto heaven. He was at his home in Windsor with his family and dog (Shadow) when he left us, just as he wanted. He knew from “an experience” that he was going to a good place. Jimmy was born on March 20, 1957 in Petaluma and would have  been 57 years old this year. He grew up in Penngrove and attended Rancho Cotate High School. Jimmy worked hard all his life, starting at Penngrove Hay and Grain, worked as a custom brick layer with Denis Murphy. After his accident in May 1980, Jimmy endured life and was un-stoppable. Nothing was going to slow him down. Jimmy said it was due to him being Irish and Italian. He worked on several construction projects including building two custom homes and building the rock walls with his own hands. He decided to  make vinegar one day and ended up creating a wine business with his own “unique label” (Holy – Special Home Improved Taste) which he was extremely proud of.

Jimmy lived life to the fullest extreme and made the best of things, no matter what it took. Jimmy enjoyed being out on the lakes in his boat, raising his Doberman dogs and entertaining family and friends. Jimmy was admired and a great inspiration to all. He made an impression and lasting memory to everyone that entered his life.  Jimmy has left a great legacy, thousands of incredible memories and crazy stories to tell, too many to mention. “We all love you Jimmy”, more than you know, you will be greatly missed by all. “Who loves You Baby.”

Jimmy is survived by his loving mom, Jane Ferina, and preceded in death by his father, John Ferina; also survived by his admired brother, Martin Ferina (Sherry), his sister and best friend, Reen Swain (Bill), nieces and nephew, John Ferina, Shelley Ferina, Suzanne Berncich (Karlie and Eddie), along with a large number of relatives and friends. A very special thank you goes out to “Erica”, his good friend and caretaker.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, Petaluma. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to “The John Ferina  Scholarship Fund” with any Exchange Bank or to the “John Ferina Memorial Fund” with the Penngrove Fire Department.  In his own words,

“I GAVE IT A HELL OF A RUN” , and he certainly did!.
