James Flocchini

FLOCCHINI, James (Jim) left us suddenly on July 2, 2015. Much loved by his family and liked by all who knew him, Jim was a sensitive and gentle man with a heart much larger than himself who cared deeply about those around him and did it all with a "cheeky" sense of humor. Our lasting memories will be of a good man, humble, loving, caring, kind and generous with his love and support in his role as husband, father, stepfather, grandfather and great grandfather. He was 78. Born in Petaluma as one of five children to Italian immigrant parents Maria and Frank Flocchini of Avenone, Lombardia, Italy, raised, lived and worked most of his life as a dairy farmer on Lakeville Hwy and died a lifelong Petaluman. He attended Lakeville School and Petaluma High School and served with the California National Guard. In 1959 he married Joyce Petersen (Wesolowski) of Petaluma, they had two sons, James Flocchini of Auckland, New Zealand and Joseph Flocchini of Petaluma. In 1972 he remarried to Vinnie Bell Rosenthal of Hulbert, Oklahoma who preceded Jim in death by 5 years and 6 days and became father to Del Rosenthal, Jerry Rosenthal and Donna Rosenthal (Brians) all of Petaluma. Brother to Edna, Nicholas and Andrew Flocchini of Petaluma and Lena Henning of Bellevue, Nebraska. Grandfather to Jeffrey Rosenthal of Santa Rosa, Gregrey Rosenthal of Graeagle, Ryan Rosenthal of Ventura, Jodi Rosenthal, Debbie Delchini, Lisa Laporte and Maria Pozzi of Petaluma, Angela Hudson of Denver, Josh Taylor of Santa Rosa and Luca Flocchini of Auckland, New Zealand. Proud great-grandfather to 15. Jim for many years was a member of the Elks Lodge #901, Sons of Italy Lodge #1518 and Petaluma SIRS #92. Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at St. James Catholic Church, 125 Sonoma Mountain Parkway, Petaluma, CA on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. A Visitation will be held at the Parent-Sorensen Mortuary & Crematory, 850 Keokuk Street, Petaluma, CA on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 from 11:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. with a Vigil Service at 7:00 P.M. Interment at Cypress Hill Memorial Park, Petaluma, CA. Reception to follow at St James Catholic Church.
