James "Jim" Moretti

James (Jim) Moretti, 91 years old, January 26, 1932, passed away in his home after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by family on July 6, 2023.  Born in Petaluma to Renato (Rennie) and Emma (Tassi) Moretti.

He was preceded in death by his brother Bobby, his brother-in-law Jerry Lemm, Ettore (Sonny) Nardulli and son-in-law Jim Brockman. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marie (Nardulli) Moretti, children Karen Moretti-Draper, son in law, Nic Draper, Dana Moretti, Noreen Moretti Brockman, son in law Kurt Whorton, brother Don Moretti, and sister Marilyn Lemm, grand-daughter, Emma Brockman, grandsons, Jimmy Draper, Casey Whorton, great grand-daughter Chloe, along with extended family, cousins, and close friends.

Jim attended St. Vincent elementary and high school. He joined the Navy reserves for 8 years after High School and attended JC of Marin. He then became a plumber (Local 38), working in San Francisco, work that he really loved and took pride in.

Before he married in 1962, he and his brother Don were altar boys on Sundays at 7 am at St. Vincent Church and for many years was a Lector at St. James Catholic Church and Eucharistic minister for the sick. He also brought communion to the sick with his wife for many years.

His hobbies and loves were fishing and hunting which brought him great joy and peace. He and his family camped at Mount Lassen as a tradition, every year, since he was 5 years old. His love for wildlife and the outdoors inspired those around him.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2023 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm at Parent-Sorensen Mortuary and Crematory, Petaluma.  The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 21, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. James Catholic Church, 125 Sonoma Mountain Parkway, Petaluma. Entombment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donate to a hospice or charity of choice.
