Jane Marie Pinckney

Jane Marie Pinckney passed away peacefully to “Mocking Bird Hill” in the early morning of June 6th due to complications from lung disease. She was 85 years old, born December 19, 1936 in Brooklyn, New York, to Svend and Margaret Nielsen. She was the youngest of 9 children. She attended an all girls Catholic high school, and waitressed at The Anchor Diner in the afternoons, which is where she met and later married her husband Gordon W. Pinckney. She was a devoted wife for 69 years. They enjoyed fishing, road trips, playing cards and meeting their friends for coffee every morning. Jane was a devoted, loving, hardworking mother of seven children. She had been an active member of the local quilt guild. She loved sewing and used her skills to make wedding dresses, halloween costumes and she was a master quilter who loved to give them away as gifts.  She also knitted and crocheted many afghans. She was an avid reader. She loved mystery and religious movies. She loved doing puzzles, baking zucchini bread, canning zucchini relish, and baking Holiday Fruit Cake. She loved her family deeply and was absolutely the glue that held her family together.

She is celebrated by her husband Gordon W. Pinckney, Brother Joseph A. Nielsen (Judy), Daughter Binky Thorsson (Barry), Daughter Viola Browder (Robert), Son Mike Pinckney, Daughter Betty Ashton (Marc), Daughter Teresa Welter (Richard) her 13 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren. Many cousins, nieces, nephews, and beloved cat Frankie.

She was predeceased by her parents Svend and Margaret Nielsen, Mother-in-law Addie Mae Pinckney, Siblings: Jim Nielsen, John Nielsen, Agnes Heineman and brother-in law Buddy Heineman, Hank Nielsen, Mary Nielsen, John Owens Nielsen, Robert Nielsen, Sister in laws Pat Pinckney, Sandy Pinckney, Viola Nielsen, Judy Nielsen, Loving Daughter Gale Overstreet, baby Jane Pinckney, Grandson Sonny J. West and Nephew John Nielsen.

Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of Jane’s life at Parent Sorensen Mortuary At 11:00 am on June 20, 2022.
