Janesse Mary Baldonado

Passed away surrounded by her loving family on March 18, 2018 in Petaluma, CA.  She was born to John “Jack” Rego and Mamie (nee Rose) Rego on April 6, 1914.  She was very proud to be a third generation “Sebastopolian” and loved to tell that her father was born in the blue house across from Marty’s Top of the Hill in Sebastopol.  Janesse attended Sebastopol Elementary and Analy High School.  She described herself as a tomboy who would rather play outside than stay indoors as a child.  She was active in sports in school and played on the Sebastopol Times women’s softball team for several years.  She married apple rancher Joseph “Joe” Baldonado in 1934 and together they raised four children.  The family moved from the Gold Ridge area to their home on Litchfield Avenue in 1948.  Janesse lived at the Litchfield address for 65 years until ill health forced her to move to an assisted living facility in Petaluma in 2013.

Janesse loved to garden and their large garden was filled with beautiful flowers, fruit trees and vegetables that she and Joe lovingly cared for through the years.  An accomplished seamstress, Janesse sewed beautifully for her family and herself.  She also loved to cook and was known for her luscious baked goods, which she shared with grateful friends and neighbors.  Janesse worked as a rural paper carrier for The Press Democrat and as a forelady at Vacu Dry Company until her retirement in 1980.  In retirement she enjoyed travel, Hawaiian and Caribbean cruises, fishing trips and turnaround gambling trips to Reno with the Sebastopol Senior Center.  She enjoyed being a part of the Senior Center activities, especially the weekly bingo games and holiday celebrations. Janesse was a lifelong member of the Sebastopol Holy Ghost Society and loved to work with her friends and classmates to prepare the food for the annual Pentecost festa.

Janesse was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe Baldonado, sister Dolores Clark Pilgrim, son Duane Baldonado, and granddaughter, Kari Brenneise.  Janesse is survived by her three daughters, Sharon Brenneise (Chet) of Stockton, Cindy Baker (Don) of Glide, OR and Nadine Wolford (Jim) of Petaluma.  She was a loving grandmother to her six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and a devoted aunt to Linda Dorris (Clark) of Sebastopol and Diana Dougherty (Clark) of Phoenix, and their children.

Friends and family are invited to the Visitation on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm with a Vigil Service at 4:00 pm at the PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma.

The Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. James Catholic Church, 125 Sonoma Mountain Pkwy., Petaluma.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Petaluma.  Private Interment: Sebastopol Memorial Lawn.
